GEMS Canada - Donation Policy

GEMS Canada is a registered Canadian charitable organization. All donations are processed in compliance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations and are eligible for Canadian tax receipts.

1. How your gift is used

Donations to GEMS Canada support approved mission work in the state of Bihar, India and neighboring states. You may direct your gift toward any specific category, or contribute to the General Missions Fund. General fund donations are allocated by the GEMS Canada board, with the major portion directed to our primary partner, GEMS Bihar, India.

2. Designated giving

You may designate your gift to the GEMS Bihar Missions General Fund or to a specific approved mission endeavor.

3. Fund allocation and reallocation

The GEMS Canada board approves an annual missions budget informed by field priorities in the state of Bihar and neighborhoods. Where field conditions, currency fluctuations, or evolving project needs require adjustment, the board may reallocate funds across approved commitments. Your tax receipt reflects your original gift and designation and is unaffected by any reallocation.

4. Our partnership

GEMS Canada is the exclusive Canadian charitable partner to GEMS Bihar, India. We maintain signed agency agreements with all supported organizations and conduct due diligence in accordance with CRA requirements. Partner organizations provide periodic progress and financial reports to ensure accountability and transparency.

5. Tax receipts

A minimum cumulative gift of CAD $25 in a calendar year is required for a CRA-compliant tax receipt to be issued. To ensure accurate receipt issuance, donors must provide a verified name, mailing address, and email address at the time of giving.
